FORD GT40 Lightweight Mk1  Chassis P 1074 (GULF)

1074 was rebuilt from the Mirage M1 0002 at the end of 1967 to conform to the new '68 regulations.
In 1968 it was entered By Gulf JWA in the following races:

                          Sebring #29              28th

1000Km of Paris #4  8th (Loaned to the Belgian driver Jean Blaton)

In 1969 it was mostly a spare car. It raced only at:

                          Brands Hatch #10     5th

1074 was sold in May 1970 to "Solar Productions"to be used as a camera car for the filming of the movie "Le Mans" staring Steve Mc Queen. The roof was cut off and 1074 was used with different camera set ups.  The car did a few laps prior to the start of the film for some ambiance scenes. It was then driven by Johnny Servoz Gavin who wore for the occasion the famous green helmet borrowed from Henri Pescarolo. Servoz Gavin had recently quit racing in Formula One and thrown all his trophies and equipment in the Seine River. In 1971 the car was sold to a private owner, changed hands several times, got back a new roof along the way and is now restored to its original Gulf look.
