GT 104

FORD GT - Chassis GT 104

The "work" career of GT 104 is very similar of GT 103. The car was sent to Le Mans in 1964 without much testing. It quit after it caught fire after 82 laps. After repair it was sent to the Nassau speed week where it retired on suspension problems. As for GT 103 it was sent to Carol Shelby at SAI to be prepared for Daytona the opening race of the 1965 season. Resprayed in dark blue with white stripes and fitted with Hallibrand alloys wheels it finished 3rd. It ran at Sebring, Monza and the Nurburgring on the Shelby colors. At the end of the season it was repainted in its original color (white and blue) and was used as a show car. GT 104 was sold in 1970 to a private collector. It changed hands several times. The car still exist and has been restored to its Shelby Livery.
