GT40 P1023

FORD GT40 Mk1 Chassis P 1023

1023 is the sister car of 1019. Initially sold to Alan Mann for his lightweight project the car has been used as source of parts after A.Mann found it was easier to start it with a bare chassis. 1023 has been finally completed using part from 1013 and 1010.
Sold to a privateer it has a modest career in the British GT championship. Later sold to a private collector the car changed hand several times. It's still in existence.

GT40 P1022

FORD GT40 Mk1 Chassis 1022

1022 was bought in Nov.'65 by the Scott driver Nick Cuthbert. He raced it in '66 and '67 only in the British GT campionship. It was sold  in 1968 to the Portuguese driver Carlos Gaspar and later to the team Palma. 1022 was raced in Portugal until 1970. Back in the UK the car was sold to a collector, changing hands several times. The car is presently in California.

GT40 P1021

FORD GT40 Mk1 Chassis P 1021

1021 was first sold to the privateer Nick Cussons who raced it during the 1966 season mainly in GT races in England except for 2 international events: Monza and the Nurburgring. In October '66 the car was sold to Colin Crabbe who took it to South Africa for the winter Springbok series. In 1967 the car was back in the UK and was raced again in club races and in a couple of international events. It was sold in 1968 and its new owner used it as a road car. The car is still in existence.

GT40 P1020

FORD GT40 Mk1 Chassis P 1020

After starting its career as a show car for SAI (Shelby) and Ford France for 2 years 1020 was upgraded to the latest race specifications in 1967. Painted in Ford France colors it was seen at the Le Mans test in April that same year. Then it was raced at Spa and Le Mans (both races: DNF) After 3 more races in the French championship (a victory at Montlhery in October) the car was sold to the famous collector Pierre Bardinon. The car is presently on display at the "musée de l'automobile" at Le Mans.

GT40 P1019

FORD GT40 Mk1 Chassis 1019

1019 was delivered to Alan Mann along with 1023 to be prepared as a lightweight GT40, but he had received by that time 5 chassis from Abbey Panels and he decided to built his lightweights ( the future AMGT1 and 2) from scratch and used 1019 and 1023 as a supply of parts. What was left of 1019 was sold to P. Hawkins who rebuilt it and it evolve in the same style as the chassis AMGT2 which he also acquired after the lightweight project was abandoned . He won the 6 hours of Barcelona with it. He sold it after that and the car was raced in club events until 1971 by its new owner. The car changed hands several times and can be seen in historic races. Prior to be sent to Alan Mann 1019 has been tested by Graham Hill in Nov. 1965.

GT40 P1018

FORD GT40 Mk1 Chassis 1018

1018 has been used by SAI (Shelby) as a show car. It was built to race specifications. The car was sent to Riverside late 1965 to test some camera equipment in preparation for the shooting of the movie Grand Prix for which the GT40 P1027 was selected as a camera car. The purpose of the Riverside testing was to choose which camera will be used for the movie. Two brands were in competition: Panavision, the winner, and Todd AO. The car was later sold to a private collector and changed hands several times and is still in existence.
The pictures of the actual car were taken by Jack Barber one of the crewmember.

GT40 P1017

FORD GT40 Mk1 Chassis P 1017

Sold to Fred English in 1966, the car painted in light blue raced 4 times by its new owner including three world manufacturer championship races (Spa, Le Mans and Zeltweg) Then It was exchanged for a Ferrari 250 LM with Ron Fry. Its new owner raced it extensively in club races until 1968 when it was sold to a private collector. The car is still in existence today.
