1018 has been used by SAI (Shelby) as a show car. It was built to race specifications. The car was sent to Riverside late 1965 to test some camera equipment in preparation for the shooting of the movie Grand Prix for which the GT40 P1027 was selected as a camera car. The purpose of the Riverside testing was to choose which camera will be used for the movie. Two brands were in competition: Panavision, the winner, and Todd AO. The car was later sold to a private collector and changed hands several times and is still in existence.
