GT40 XGT2

FORD GT40 Mk2 Chassis XGT2

Like its sister car XGT1, XGT2 was finished just in time for the 1966 24 hours of Le Mans by the Alan Mann crew at SAI in Los Angeles. It retired at Le Mans, its first and only race, at the 9th hour after leading the first lap. During  practice it wore a beautiful silver and black stripes livery but after its accident with the GT40 1029 of Scuderia Bear it had to have the front hood replaced for the race by the a matte black one from the spare  Mk2 1012.  After Le Mans it was stored a few years at Holmann & Moody then was sold in the '70s to a private owner and is back in its practice Le Mans colors.
