P1006 is the first GT40 to appear with the definitive Mk1 shape. It was entered by JWA for the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1965 where it retired as the other GT40s. After Le Mans it was used for development and was wrecked during testing at Monza. the salvaged parts were used to finish P1000. The chassis, sold to a privateer, has been rebuilt with an aluminum body made by Paul Hawkins in the style of his AMGT2. It changed hands several times and has been finally restored to its original 1965 Le Mans specifications.
